Italian research centre MECS-Acimac has published its new report on the Indian ceramic tile industry, which is the result of interviews with around 800 local companies, mostly based in the Morbi district.
Total U.S. ceramic tile consumption in 2022 was 285.4 million sq.m, down 1.3% from the previous year. Imports by volume decreased, too, down 2.3% to 202.7 million sq.m, while national production grew by 2.3% reaching 87.3 million sq.m.
In 2022 the U.S. residential construction decreased for the first time since 2007. 1.56 million new houses were built last year, down 2,9% on 2021. The outlook is negative also for the year 2023.

ACIMAC research Dept/MECS anticipates to Ceramic World Review the key figures of the 10th edition of the annual report “World production and consumption of ceramic tiles”. In 2021 world tile production and consumption grew by 7.2% and 6.8% respectively. World tile import-export flows saw a significant increase, up 8.7% on 2020.
According to figures published in the Confindustria Ceramica national statistical survey the brick and tile output grew to 4.46 million tonnes, marking a return to 2019 levels.
