Sostenibilità in ceramica - TECNA 2022

The Tecna 2022 technology conference entitled Sustainability in Ceramics organised by Acimac and IEG in cooperation with Ceramic World Review will be held on the morning of Wednesday 28 September in the Future Arena in Hall D5 of the Rimini Expo Centre.

Sponsored by Enel Green Power, the event will explore various aspects of the ecological transition in the ceramic industry. Moderated by Francesco Bottino (editor of Hydronews), the first session will focus on the new frontiers and challenges of hydrogen power. Claudia Bassano from ENEA will introduce the theme by illustrating the potential and development of hydrogen power in hard-to-abate sectors. Next to speak will be Lorenzo Ducci (Hydrogen Business Unit, Enel Green Power), who will describe the role of Enel Green Power in the path towards the decarbonisation of the ceramic industry through the adoption of green hydrogen.

Talks on various aspects of plant engineering will be given by two companies that have long been engaged in R&D work in this field. Claudio Ricci will present Sacmi’s plant engineering vision for reducing emissions and saving energy in the ceramic tile and slab production process, then Ruggero Casoni will describe the state of progress of the innovative solutions developed by SITI B&T for the use of hydrogen in the ceramic industry.

The second session, moderated by Paola Giacomini (editor of Ceramic World Review), will be devoted to the most interesting technological innovations for the ceramic industry in the fields of energy saving, recovery and recycling. First, Andrea Torlai and Paolo Bertocchi (System Ceramics) will discuss the work carried out by the Fiorano-based group aimed at improving the environmental sustainability of its latest technological offerings. Next, an example of the circular economy will be presented by Marcello Fontanini (Sermat, LB Group), who will discuss various solutions for recovering waste and sludge from ceramic processing and reusing it in the production process.

This will be followed by two technical reports on energy efficiency and heat recovery. The first, by Roberto Secchi (Poppi), will also explore the topics of cogeneration and purification; the second, given by Evangelos Schoinàs and Stefano Minghelli (Cami Depurazioni), will present a virtual heat recovery process based on a high-efficiency heat exchanger.

This will be followed by Marco Bertuzzi (head of the Renewable Energy Management department at Protesa-Sacmi Group), who will explain how new models can be used to combine energy efficiency improvement with the production of energy from photovoltaic sources, enabling the ceramic world to accelerate its zero-carbon pledge towards customers and consumers.

The final talk will be given by Francesco Trapanante, Enel X Italy Globl Key Account Manager, who will describe the latest updates and business opportunities for the ceramic sector provided by the “Energy Communities
