The new Gamma XD and Durst digital glazing line make their debut at Tecnargilla

The Gamma XD series, the new generation of 8-colour inkjet printers with modular capacities and integrated self-maintenance system, made its world debut at Tecnargilla. The new series was greeted enthusiastically by visitors, an interest underscored by the fact that all the units due to be produced by the end of 2014 have already been pre-ordered.

Equipped with printheads featuring Durst's latest High Definition Printhead Technology with dual ink recirculation, the Gamma XD printers also use the new Adaptive Dot Placement technology which guarantees reliability, high band-free image quality and colour uniformity over the entire print width. Furthermore, the new self-calibrating printheads can be easily replaced by the operator, minimising machine stoppage times and optimising production efficiency.

Even before being unveiled in Rimini, four Gamma XD units were ordered by the Brazilian group Portobello (which already uses six Gamma 75 printers) as part of its investment program aiming to increase production capacity to 27 million sq.m/year.

At the trade fair Durst also showcased its exclusive "digital glazing line" concept, which combines printing and finishing processes and synchronises digital decoration and glazing to achieve on-demand production from the computer through to the finished product without further production stoppages.

The new process was described by Norbert von Aufschnaiter at the conference organised by Acimac and at the launch press conference. Talks were also given by Harald Oberrauch (owner of Durst Phototechnik), who discussed the company's long-term strategy in the ceramic market, CEO Christoph Gamper, who illustrated the major synergies established in recent years as a result of Durst's experience in various fields of digital printing, and Martin Schoeppler, CEO of Fujifilm Dimatix, who emphasised Durst's vital contribution to the development of the new Dimatix printheads for the ceramic sector.
