Wienerberger Brick Award 2026 Shortlist Revealed

Fifty international examples of innovation and creativity in brick construction.

The fifty finalists of the Brick Award 2026 have been announced. The prestigious international prize, held every two years, celebrates the most innovative and inspiring architectural projects built with brick and ceramic.

Since 2004, the competition—promoted by Wienerberger but independent of the use of its products—has served as a global stage for architects who see brick as a timeless material, capable of combining tradition and sustainability with a contemporary design language.

An international jury of renowned architects selected the finalists from 849 submissions representing 21 countries across five continents. The projects compete in five categories: Feeling at home (private residences), Living together (urban housing projects), Working together (commercial and industrial buildings), Sharing public spaces (public buildings and spaces), and Building outside the box (innovative solutions).

Among the highlights are the Shafagh Tomb in Iran, which transforms a mausoleum into a space for collective memory; the Aga Khan Academy in Bangladesh, an urban campus that blends education with nature; and the Metallic Bellows Factory Office in Chennai, India, a low-carbon building inspired by traditional brick kilns. In Europe, a standout project is Studio RAP’s 3D-printed ceramic façade in Amsterdam, while from Australia comes the Melbourne Holocaust Museum, which combines brick and glass in a symbolic composition of memory and resilience.

The award ceremony will take place in Vienna on June 11, 2026, when the winners will be announced. All fifty shortlisted projects will be published in the official Brick 26 Book, set to become a reference point for professionals and architecture enthusiasts worldwide.
