In 2022 world tile production and consumption fell by 9.7% and 10.9% respectively. World tile import-export flows also saw a significant decrease, down 8% on 2021.
Tecna, the international exhibition of technologies and supplies for surfaces organised by Italian Exhibition Group and Acimac, has officially announced its dates for 2024.
Italian machinery industry marks a 14.5% increase on 2021. Exports are worth €1.69 billion. Acimac chairman Lamberti commented: “An outstanding result achieved in an extremely challenging year”.
Italian research centre MECS-Acimac has published its new report on the Indian ceramic tile industry, which is the result of interviews with around 800 local companies, mostly based in the Morbi district.
Acimac Research Dept. / MECS updates the yearly analysis of the world ceramic sanitaryware imports/exports flows. In 2021 sanitaryware exports experienced a strong recovery, increasing by 16.5% on 2020, an upturn observed in all geographical areas of production.
According to the Acimac-MECS preliminary figures, the Italian ceramic machinery and technology sector is set to record a turnover of € 2.16 billion in 2022 (up 5.2% on 2021) and has already received orders amounting to four months of production in 2023.

In 2021 world tile production and consumption grew by 7.2% and 6.8% respectively. World tile import-export flows saw a significant increase, up 8.7% on 2020.
The world ceramic industry will meet in Rimini from 27 to 30 September. All the leading suppliers of technology, equipment and services will be participating in Tecna 2022.
The Italian machinery manufacturers’ sales grew by 39% to €2,056 million in 2021, including strong performances in both the domestic market (+31%) and exports (+42%). Acimac’s newly elected chairman Paolo Lamberti commented: “We feel very confident. 45% of our member companies are expecting further business growth this year.”
The world’s leading exhibition of technologies and supplies for the surfaces industry will put the spotlight on innovation in the Rimini Expo Centre from 27 to 30 September 2022.
According to the preliminary figures compiled by the MECS - Acimac Research Centre, the sector’s year-end turnover will rise to €2,145 million, 45% up on 2020. Almost 6 months of production is guaranteed in 2022
