Esmalglass-Itaca presents its efficient and eco-friendly solutions at Cersaie 2023

The company will unveil the new projects realised with DigitalGlass, a water-based digital glazing solution.

With a history stretching back more than forty years in the glaze, frit and digital ink sector, Esmalglass-Itaca (part of the Altadia Group) has worked tirelessly to develop innovative, trend-setting products that stand as a benchmark for quality in the ceramic industry. The company’s commitment to excellence and sustainability has always prompted it to focus on research and the use of new technologies to achieve highly efficient and environmentally friendly solutions and processes.

One of the stand-out products presented by the company at Cersaie 2023 is DigitalGlass, a water-based digital glazing solution that can reduce water consumption by a factor of up to 10, thereby lowering environmental impact.

DigitalGlass dispenses with traditional glazes, avoids waste, reduces odours, improves surface quality and is able to create digital reliefs. These benefits, together with the ability to deliver higher quality products and a superior colour range, consistency and aesthetics, make DigitalGlass more competitive in the marketplace. These characteristics are backed up by certifications from all printhead manufacturers attesting to the quality of Esmalglass-Itaca’s water-based digital materials.

The use of digital water-based glazes is a major innovation and a real turning point for the ceramic industry as the digital production process reduces not only operational and logistical costs but also the time required to adapt to market demands.

In keeping with its commitment to sustainability, as part of its Natural collection the company is introducing new solvent-based primers and digital glues with low VOC content and full compatibility with all printheads. These products are specially formulated to reduce atmospheric emissions and eliminate odours at the flue. They also allow for heavier digital applications, achieving effects that would be impossible with conventional inks while significantly reducing application problems.

Two other solutions on display at Cersaie are Shape-grit Opaco and Shape-ink Opaco, used to create more natural reliefs and digital structures with an endless variety of textures and finishes. Both products provide greater volume and definition with better substrate coverage.

Thanks to its innovative processes, the use of digital technology and ongoing process improvement, the company has succeeded in adding greater value and quality to its products without having to change their characteristics, an advantage that is greatly appreciated in the market.

With a global reputation not only for the quality and excellence of its products but also for its commitment to innovation and care for the environment, Esmalglass-Itaca reaffirms its mission: to make the planet greener through research into more efficient, sustainable and competitive materials and processes.
