Dellas expands its range of polishing tools

Process automation and cost optimisation in ceramic finishing.

Dellas spa, a company specialising in the production of diamond tools for ceramic and stone, is strengthening its technological standing with the introduction of new high-performance polishing solutions. Designed to meet the challenges of stock removal in cutting-edge ceramics, these latest additions expand a well-established range developed to optimise process efficiency and surface quality.

To improve material flatness and ensure controlled removal, the company has developed two lines of tools in the L 140 mm format, manufactured using compression moulding technology.

The first variant, with 24 rectangular segments, is engineered to adapt to surface irregularities and effectively follow variations in flatness, including depressions in the substrate.

By contrast, the 17-segment version with an internal cusp features an optimised design that ensures even tool wear by neutralising stress differences along the working perimeter.

In terms of formulations, the Dellas spa research centre has developed two new solutions, DM and YM6, which cater to the different needs of production managers.

  • The DM formulation is recommended for large grit-coated slabs with different expansion coefficients and particle sizes. It stands out for its high cutting power and its ability to preserve flatness right from the initial levelling stages. Configured with 17 segments, it provides an effective transition to the subsequent 10-segment finishing stages, where dedicated finishing formulations help achieve a perfectly flat surface.
  • The YM6 offers superior rigidity and versatility, making it ideal for both short lines and high-productivity systems with over 40 heads. Boasting an optimal balance between stock removal and tool life, the YM6 allows cutting to be managed flexibly through pressure adjustment. In the 24-segment version, divided into three independent sectors, it also increases resistance to lateral stresses on the edges of the tiles.

By automating its production and assembly processes, Dellas spa is able to optimise industrial costs and offer customers more competitively priced products without compromising on quality, reliability, consistent performance or durability.
