Ibstock opens its first Academy at Walsall College

The initiative marks a significant step in Ibstock’s strategy to develop industry skills and advance the transition to sustainable construction.

Marking a milestone in its commitment to supporting construction skills, Ibstock has officially launched its pilot Ibstock Academy at Walsall College in the UK, an initiative designed to bridge the gap between education and employment.

The project, the first of its kind for the Group, is part of the Home Builders Federation’s Partner a College programme and will serve as a blueprint for future partnerships across the UK. The Academy will support the development of practical, job-ready skills aligned with the quality, safety and productivity standards required by today’s construction sector.

The project is part of Ibstock’s broader strategy to support local communities and comes on the heels of its latest £64 million investment in its new Atlas factory in Walsall, which produces low-carbon bricks using state-of-the-art technology and has created more than 50 jobs. At the same time, community initiatives such as the Work 4 Homes programme are helping disadvantaged groups into employment.

With its new Academy, Ibstock strengthens its role as a bridge between education and industry with the aim of creating a more inclusive, skilled and resilient workforce ready to meet the sector’s future challenges.
