Imerys reports 8% growth in 2006
The French multinational closed 2006 with a turnover of almost 3.3 billion euro, 8% up on 2005.
It also reported a considerable increase in sales of the Specialty Minerals division, which includes raw materials for the ceramic industry, with a turnover of 892 million euro (+10.2%).
Fine ceramic markets were marked by capacity reductions in Western Europe and North America and by the transfer of ceramic production to Eastern Europe, Latin America and Asia.
In particular, production capacity was increased in Thailand to cater for the growth of the local ceramic sanitaryware industry and reserves of kaolin for porcelain tile were expanded in New Zealand.
