The virtual tile from Surface Inspection

At the last Tecnargilla, Surface Inspection unveiled a groundbreaking graphic design software called TileDevizor, which creates a photorealistic 3D model of tiles without actually making them.

TileDevizor enables tile designers to create a realistic image of a new tile design on a computer starting from the biscuit substrate and replicating the production sequence of printing, glazing and third firing.

The most innovative aspect of the software is the application of light. The tile and viewpoint can be smoothly rotated on screen to show the effect of various light positions on the surface from any angle.

It can then be shown against a chosen background to place the tile in context with its surroundings.
