I Made' goes to Washington

09/07/03 - Washington will be the venue for the next stage of "I Made - i modi del produrre", the travelling exhibition of Italian products organised as part of the Abitare Italia, Life in I Style project.
Devoted to experimentation and technologies in the Italian interior design industry, I Made will be hosted in the US capital from 10 to 31 July 2003 at the Arts Society of the International Monetary Fund headquarters to celebrate the beginning of Italy's six-month presidency of the European Union.

The products on display will include a number of particularly interesting examples of Italian ceramic tiles.
Other showcased products include optical fibre tiles, mosaic, special tiles for the visually impaired, terracotta tiles for exterior facades, jewel tiles with inserts of precious materials, illuminated tiles and an experimental high-thickness porcelain tile prototype produced for the paving of Piazza Italia in Kobe, Japan.

This appointment with Italian culture will be complemented by a series of ancillary initiatives, including a seminar on the various sectors of the Italian interior design industry, which will be held at the Italian Embassy, recently refurbished by architect Piero Sartogo.
This meeting, entitled "Tradition and Innovation in Italian Architecture and Design", will include keynote addresses by designer Karim Rashid and architects Hani Rashid and Piero Sartogo.

The exhibition is promoted by the Italian Ministry of productive activities in cooperation with the Italian Trade Commission (ICE) and the relevant trade associations. Following the success of Los Angeles, Miami and New York, the Washington event aims to bring Italian design to yet another important US city before moving on to St. Petersburg, Russia for the city's 300th anniversary celebrations, and after that Moscow.
