Publication of handbook "Colour, pigments and colouring ceramics"

25/06/03 - The technical handbook entitled "Colour, Pigments and Colouring in the Ceramic Industry", produced by I.Cer.S (Italian Ceramic Society) in cooperation with Acimac and published by S.A.L.A., was presented at a conference attended by an enthusiastic and attentive audience of a hundred and eighty people.
To present the handbook, a conference was held on 19 June in the Assopiastrelle Auditorium with keynote addresses given by some of the foremost experts in the field of ceramic colouring.

The proceedings were opened by Italian Ceramic Society and Acimac chairmen, Paolo Zannini and Franco Stefani. The first address was given by Bruno Burzacchini, coordinator of the I.Cer.S. working group and curator of the book.
Antonio Camellini, representing Assopiastrelle, offered a fascinating talk on the evolution in colour trends in the ceramic tile sector from the 1960s to the present day. Luca Bettini (Impronta-Italgraniti) discussed the development of pigment usage for in-press decoration, while Graziano Vignali (vice chairman of Ceramicolor) focused on the use of penetrating pigments in porcelain tile production. Designer Maria Luisa Brighenti addressed the potential of ceramic to meet new needs in architecture and interior design.

The talks were followed by a lively debate that revealed enormous interest in the diffusion of a field of expertise which although widely shared has never before been addressed systematically.
