Qualicer 2004 to be held in Castellon14/2/2003- Qualicer 2004, the 8th World Congress on ceramic tile quality organised by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation and the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Castellon, will be held in Castellon (Spain) from 7 to 10 March 2004. At the year 2004 event, the organisers will be seeking to give more coverage to issues of greatest interest for company managers without neglecting the customary content aimed at researchers, producers of ceramic, machinery and glaze, raw materials suppliers, distributors, tile layers, architects and designers. The closing dates have already been announced for submission of communications, which as usual will consist of papers and posters divided into two groups: manufacturing and use of ceramic tiles. A summary of about 500 words must be submitted to the Qualicer Technical Committee by 27 June 2003, which will be examined during the month of July. Authors will be informed of initial acceptance of their work, after which the complete work should be presented by 31 October 2003. Submitted work must be unpublished and should not contain commercial references.

In addition to technical reports and posters, as in the past Qualicer 2004 will host both General Conferences and Roundtable Discussions. Internationally renowned figures are invited to both kinds of events. At the last Qualicer, held in 2002, there were 606 participants from 26 countries worldwide. At that event, a total of 108 presentations were made, including 5 general conferences, 49 technical reports and 54 posters. The speakers at the general conferences were: Federico Michavila Heras (Chairman of Torrecid Group), Enrique Sanchez Vilches (Professor of chemical engineering at the Jaume I University in Castellon and coordinator of the R and D project at the Ceramic Technology Institute), Ivanno Ligabue (Chairman of LB Officine Meccaniche), Richard P. Goldberg (architect and technical consultant), William Walters (consultant and expert on ceramic coverings).
