A revolution called porcelain laminate

A revolution called porcelain laminate23/1/2003 - A house with an external cladding consisting entirely of porcelain is just one of the possible applications of the porcelain laminate sheets presented by Prof. Mariano Paganelli, an academic and ceramic sector expert, during the Italian Day at the "Sonderschau Fliesen-CERAMICA 2003" at Bau 2003. Prof. Paganelli outlined the totally innovative technology underlying the production of these sheets. This revolutionary material can be used to cover surfaces ranging from wood in a kitchen to the bricks of a house. In particular, Prof. Paganelli presented a house with external cladding consisting entirely of porcelain laminate.
"The production cycle is based on dry pressing of ceramic powders," Prof. Paganelli explained. "The technology is similar to that used for porcelain tiles, but the dimensions are quite different: just a three millimetre thickness for a surface area of three square metres. To achieve this, all the technology had to be totally redesigned." The great advantage of porcelain laminate is its resistance to harmful agents such as fire, acids, abrasives, frost and sunlight. On the strength of these characteristics, the material is now considered one of the most prestigious and reliable covering materials available on the market
