Conference on guidelines for good use of crystalline silica

Presentation of memorandum of understanding on good practices for use of free crystalline silica in the ceramic industry

A conference presenting the "Memorandum of understanding on good practices for the use of free crystalline silica in the ceramic tile industry" to all companies in the sector will be held on Thursday 27 November 2008 (9.00 - 13.30) in the Confindustria Ceramica Auditorium, Viale Monte Santo 40 Sassuolo (MO).

The document, signed last July by Confindustria Ceramica, ACIMAC, the regional health authorities and the regional trade union organisations FILCEM-FEMCA-UILCEM, aims to establish good working practices for controlling and reducing the risks of worker exposure to silica and improving conditions of health and safety in the workplace.

The Memorandum follows the NEPSI Social Dialogue Agreement signed at a European level in 2006 and is part of the work of the NIS (Italian Silica Network) to establish Guidelines and Good Practices applicable to the whole of the Italian ceramic industry which will be adopted as a tool for protecting the health of workers in all production departments.
