In 2023 the U.S. residential construction decreased for the second consecutive year. 1.41 million new houses were built last year, down 9% on 2022. The outlook is negative also for the year 2024.
A new plant is due to come into operation at the site in Baxter, Tennessee this spring. It will focus on the production of large sizes and trims, products that are in strong demand in the US market.
The project began in 2022 with the installation of a new kiln and has now been completed with the start-up of the first Continua+ line, with capacity soon set to double.

Total U.S. ceramic tile consumption in 2022 was 285.4 million sq.m, down 1.3% from the previous year. Imports by volume decreased, too, down 2.3% to 202.7 million sq.m, while national production grew by 2.3% reaching 87.3 million sq.m.

U.S. ceramic tile consumption grew by 9.9% to 289 million sq.m. Imports reached their highest level in fifteen years: 207 million sq.m with a total value of US$ 2.5 billion, up 13.6% and 25% respectively on 2020.
In 2021 the U.S. residential construction reached its highest level since 2006, with 1.6 million new hoouses, up 15.6% on 2020. The outlook is positive also for the year 2022.
